Every year we get inquiries from people from outside Japan — but this year, it’s been more than usual 😊 People living in Nagasaki, people from elsewhere in Kyushu, visitors traveling to Nagasaki — we’ve heard from all kinds of people.
And the answer is always: yes, we can help you in English. Here’s what that actually looks like.
Simple conversation + translation apps — and it works

We’re not fluent English speakers. But between simple conversational English and translation apps, we’re able to communicate just fine.
A lot of diving communication happens through gestures and movement underwater anyway, so it’s less of a barrier than you might think. If something’s unclear, we just pull out a translation app together and check.
The academic portion of certification courses is already multilingual

If you’re working toward a certification like Open Water Diver, the classroom/e-learning portion is already available in multiple languages, so that part is no problem at all. For the in-water training, we support you with simple English and translation apps, the same way.
One group a day, at your own pace

VERRYS is the only fully private, one-group-a-day dive shop in Nagasaki. You won’t be sharing your day with other guests, so we can go at your pace and double-check anything that’s unclear — exactly the same as we do for our Japanese guests 🐠
